Submission Policy
CONTENT:
All submitted images, articles and how-tos must be acceptable for viewing of all ages, e.g., no sexually explicit or vulgar content. Images must be original in content and design. Articles must be limited to 500-800 words, and must be accompanied by a suitable
head-shot photograph (either scanned and attached to your email, ftp
or mailed via snail mail). The Rendering Times reserves the right to edit and/or reject any or all content as deemed appropriate to this publication. Text material submitted will not be returned.
FORMAT:
- Images must be submitted in the JPG or GIF formats if submitted via ftp, email, or on disk by snail mail. When saving in the JPG format, do not accept a middle lossiness setting, select a maximum quality setting (85% or greater). The GIF format is only acceptable under specific conditions.
- A reply to your Request for Submission must be received before sending any submission, whether image or text. (See Request for Submission form, e-mail and postal addresses, and sending
instructions below.) All image submissions not pre-approved will not be viewed, or considered by our staff.
- Images should not exceed 800 X 600 at screen resolution (about 75 dpi). Screen captures of the wire frame or model used must accompany your submission if for a tutorial.
- Please include with your image a list of the hardware and software used to create your image.
- Please limit file names to the standard 8.3 (8 characters for the name, 3 for the extension).
TOOLS:
Images must be modeled and rendered using Crystal Graphics products (i.e., Topas, Flying Fonts, Designer, etc.) or
POV (Persistence of Vision), and their related products. The usage of post-rendering tools depends upon the nature of the submission.
COPYRIGHT:
All images published will fall under the General Copyright of The Rendering Times, and may be used at our discretion. For personal / corporate copyright issues please read the General Copyright information.
Submitting via ftp/e-mail:
- Snail/e-mail a completed Submission Request form to the address below.
- When you receive a reply from The Rendering Times, you may send your image and descriptive text, or article to us.
Be sure to include a completed Approved Submission Form with each image you send! If you are sending an article or how-to please zip all components into a single package and send it as a mime attachment. (No uuencoding please)
Submissions by Snail Mail:
Images will be accepted only on 3.5 high-density (1.44 Meg) disks at this time. Images should be converted to JPG (or GIF if appropriate). All images on disk must be accompanied by at least a low resolution print-out (black & white is acceptable).
** Please note: Regular 3.5 floppy disks will not be returned! The Rendering Times assumes no liability for lost or damaged disks.
