Topas Try Me's: Desk Lamp (Continued)

4. The 'screen' portion of the lamp is next on the agenda.  This is quite possibly the most difficult portion of this Try Me.

BUILD -- SIMPLE -- RECTANGLE
You want a rectangle with dimensions of 12 by 24 inches.

BUILD -- COMPLEX -- BEVEL POLYGON

Next you will want to make a rectangle long and wide enough to cover the beveled end of the object we just did. If you have the grid on, you can easily line up the first line of the beveled object with the edge of the new rectangle.

BUILD -- SIMPLE -- RECTANGLE

MODIFY -- MOVE (Ctrl - F8)

MODIFY -- DRILL OBJECT

Repeat this operation on the other side of the beveled object.

Delete the rectangle you just used for drilling. It is now just taking up screen realestate.

 MODIFY -- DELETE OBJECT

Now you can turn off the grid.

 VIEW -- GRID

5. Now we need to cut a hole in the 'screen' to let the light through.

BUILD -- SIMPLE -- RECTANGLE

MODIFY -- DRILL OBJECT

Our settings are different this time so be sure to check that you have them correct.  And we are doing a 'drill to depth' so be sure to do it like this illustration.
